'Cavallo Equestrian Arts' is one of the new groups making a premier appearance this year. For decades this Italian family has been recreating historical equestrian martial arts, performing nationwide in festivals and Hollywood film productions with stars like Andy Garcia, Mickey Rooney, Joe DiMaggio, Robin Williams, Jeff Bridges and Kris Kristofferson.
Stroll through winding forest paths lined with entertainers and merchants to the jousting arena where the Knights of Cavallo will amaze you with their breathtaking technical expertise and timeless reenactment. Relive the past as the once peaceful meadows of Carlsville resound with the clash of steel and the thundering beat of hooves. Witness the ferocity of real life tournament jousting on horseback but, beware of the Dark Knight.
Try to resist the swirling winds of passion evoked by Ma'Ceo, the gypsy equestrian acrobats who rekindle the age-old fellowship of man and horse. Cavallo performs two Dark Knight Jousts and one Ma'Ceo shows each day. They will immerse the audience in an extraordinary world of action, enchantment and delight.
This year it is also rumored that 'Pirates of the 7 Seas' will invade the Kingdom! Arrrrh! From the beginnings of time, man has explored the sea in sailing ships and there have always been freebooters, dastardly villains who accost merchants and travelers, pillaging and plundering the unwary. Keep an eye out for pirates in the enchanted forest and expect to be entertained!
'Have Court, Will Travel' with Queen Catherine, King Edward and numerous Lords and Ladies will again preside over the Faire Kingdom. They will reign at the opening and closing of the gates, bestow knighthood on those who are true at heart and attend to the young lasses and their lords seeking ladies in waiting ceremonies, a truly educational experience.
Four grand stages will provide continuous entertainment throughout each day from the high-energy musical performances of Merry Measure, to sensuous dance, magic, juggling, fire-eating, weapon handling, hunting with hounds and so much more. In the lanes, you may encounter real faeries, a rat catcher, or meet up with the Baron of Bubbles, and of course those diabolical pirates. Hands-on demonstrations at historical encampments provide education in a delightful way, not soon forgotten.
"Join us for a magnificent opening weekend and plan to return again," says Lady Bliss, "...because there is so much to see and do! Food merchants are getting ready to feed the masses and the Olde Knight's Tavern will be stocked with ale. Dozens of vendors' colorful tents will recreate a marketplace of the Middle Ages to tempt you with colorful keepsakes and beautiful wares."
