Saving the cisco population in Lake Michigan

Learn about how to help the fish population at an event in Sturgeon Bay. On Monday, Crossroads at Big Creek will be hosting a lecture talking about the wellbeing of fish populations in the Great Lakes. Dr. John Dettmer, director of the Fishery Management Program of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, will be giving a lecture entitled “When will the Ciscoes Run Again”, a follow up to a previous lecture regarding how the cisco population dwindled. Dr. Dettmer says he believes now may be a prime time to reintroduce and reestablish populations of this once significant family of fish in Lake Michigan.

The lecture will be at 7 PM on Monday in the Collins Learning Center at Crossroads. It is free and open to the public.
