DARE replaced at some schools

Door County Sheriff’s Department Juvenile Investigator Chris Neuville will be sharing his teacher’s hat with other officers this coming school year. The law enforcement-based program known as D.A.R.E. will only be taught at Washington Island School and St. John Bosco in Sturgeon Bay after Southern Door, Gibraltar, and Sevastopol hired resource officers over the summer. Those schools will be taught by their resource officers some of the same lessons through the newly developed COREMatters Project curriculum. No matter the program, Neuville says kids are eager to learn.

The COREMatters Project focuses on social-emotional learning, empathy, and respect building through a number of different activities.
