Six flu vaccine clinics are scheduled between Thursday, October 3rd and Friday, October 18th in Door County. The clinics will only serve adults. Children's vaccines shots should be scheduled by appointment. Door County Public Health Officer Susan Powers says that there are differences between the adult vaccine and the children's version.
Powers refused to make any predictions about the severity of this year's flu strain or the number of people who could be affected. Vaccines are suggested for all adults but pregnant women, the elderly, and also young children are most at risk. The vaccine costs $38 dollars unless covered by Medicare or private insurance.
