Speakers series haunts in opener

Ghost stories kick off the Maritime Speaker Series this Thursday in Sturgeon Bay. Hosted by the Door County Maritime Museum, the monthly series got expanded this year to include October and May in response to the popularity of the events. Dan Heibler will present “Ghost Stories of the Great Lakes” when he gives his first of two presentations during this year’s series. DCMM Community Engagement Manager Carrie Dorski says guests can expect to hear stories they have never heard before.

The Maritime Speaker Series takes place on the first Thursday of every month and is free of charge with the donation of a non-perishable food item.

February 6 – Dr. Don Mikulic: “The Ledge, the Lake, and the Limestone”

March 5 – DCMM Curator Rhys Kuzdas: “Built for Battle: Sturgeon Bay and World War II”

April 2 – Dan Heibler: “Myths and Mysteries: Legends and Lore of our Great Lakes” 

May 7 - Wes Oleszewski: “World War II & The Great Lakes”
