A symbolic gravestone marker was reportedly stolen in the Town of Baileys Harbor cemetery recently. According to a social media post on Tuesday by Gil Gerdman, a solid metal eagle that was attached to his fishing buddy Phil McGuire’s gravesite is missing. McGuire was a Texan who spent summers in Door County and loved to take pictures of eagles and wanted to be buried in Door County. Gerdman is hoping that information leads to the return of the eagle to its rightful place. Bailey’s Harbor Town Constable Mark Merrill told DoorCountyDailyNews.com that McGuire’s widow who lives still lives in Texas, notified him about the stolen eagle.
