The Washington Island Ferry terminal has a lot on their plate this winter due to the variety of weather conditions and traffic to the dock. This winter has brought in conditions that have made it challenging for staff to make calls on whether or not trips will be made from the Island to the mainland or vice versa. Two of the main factors that are considered when deciding whether or not a boat will make a trip across the water is wind direction and air temperature.
