An invasive and woody reed found throughout the Door Peninsula has the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announcing a statewide approach to manage the non-native plant. Phragmites, an aggressive wetland plant with a wide distribution across the country, negatively impacts the ecosystem of wetlands by shading out and overtaking native plants. The science-based strategy of management by the DNR will utilize Surface Water Grants to prioritize Phragmites-focused planning and control applications.
