The H1N1 flu strain – best known as Swine Flu – is strong this winter. Several deaths from this particular virus have been reported across the country.
Kristi Kluge works with infectious disease control at Ministry Door County Medical Center. She says the flu vaccine can still protect you from Swine Flu.
Swine flu can appear to be a respiratory illness.
Door and Kewaunee counties are showing a moderate amount of flu activity.
You can infect other people starting a day before symptoms develop and as much as a week after becoming sick. Kluge says if you are sick, stay home from that New Year’s Eve party.
