Along with their recent bill, customers of Sturgeon Bay Utilities are getting a list of more than 100 streetlights that are being recommended for removal.
Thirty-three lights on the west side and 69 lights on the east side are targeted to be either removed or relocated as part of a cost-saving measure.
Residents are invited to give feedback on the proposal by contacting the City of Sturgeon Bay at 746-2900 or Sturgeon Bay Utilities at 746-2820. The list can be viewed here.
The Sturgeon Bay City Council voted Jan. 10 to remove or relocate 130 streetlights. But that plan was less aggressive than one recommended by a city committee so city officials said at that time that the item would come back for additional review.
According to SBU, the city currently pays more than $190,000 annually for the maintenance and energy use of over 1,100 streetlights.
