Door County saw a big decrease in unemployment in September. The biggest in the state actually.
According to numbers released this week by the Department of Workforce Development, Door County's September 2012 unemployment rate was 6.7%. That's 1.7% lower than the 8.4% rate registered in September of 2011.
Kewaunee County also posted a big September-to-September drop. Kewaunee County's 4.7% rate last month was 1.3% lower than the 6.0% rate posted in September 2011. That decrease was tied for second in the state. (Rusk County posted an identical dip.)
In terms of state rank, just six of the state's 72 counties had lower unemployment numbers than Kewaunee County's 4.7%. Door County's 6.7% puts it further down the list, 26 spots from the bottom.
