Part B of a Bike Safety Rodeo was held Wednesday at St Peters Lutheran School in Sturgeon Bay.

The first part of the kids bicycle safety clinic -- which included bike inspections, learning the rules of the road and viewing a safety video -- took place October 9, but rain prevented the skills part of the event.
That took place Wednesday as the young riders negotiated their way through a miniature "chalk street" course set up in the parking lot laid out with simulated streets, intersections, crosswalks and stop signs. They were guided through the course by knowledgeable Community Service Officers who pointed out hazards, safety tips, and explained how to apply the rules of the road that the kids learned. The youngsters learned about blind corners, stopping at stop signs, staying off sidewalks, yielding to pedestrians, avoiding the door-zone, intersections, crosswalks and driveways.
The event was sponsored by the Door County Silent Sports Alliance, which has held five such events this year in Sturgeon Bay.
