A Sturgeon Bay man was arrested this past weekend for his 9th drunk driving offense.
According to the Sturgeon Bay Police Department website, officers pulled the 57-year-old man over on Barrick Road Sunday at 12:54 a.m. for speeding. Police had attempted to stop him prior to that but they say he failed to stop. Police say the man was drinking alcohol and was not supposed to be operating a vehicle. He also reportedly refused to undergo field sobriety tests. He was arrested for 9th Offense OWI and jailed on numerous felony charges.
The arrest was one of seven OWI arrests Sturgeon Bay police have made the past two weekends. The arrests include a 6th Offense OWI November 11 where police say a 40-year-old Sturgeon Bay man was arrested for drunk driving after traveling in the wrong lane on Duluth Avenue. They say a preliminary breath test showed the man had a blood alcohol level of .258, more than three times the legal limit.
Another OWI arrest involved a 79-year-old Sturgeon Bay man who was reportedly driving through yards and crossing into the other lane of traffic November 10 at 7:30 p.m.
