The Birch Creek Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Kopischke as the new executive director of Birch Creek Music Performance Center.
"On behalf of the Birch Creek Board of Trustees, we are thrilled to welcome Alan Kopischke as our new Executive Director," says Board President Jane Berg. "He brings extensive experience in non-profit arts management and enthusiastic participation in the Door County community. We are confident that Birch Creek will move forward in a positive direction under his leadership."
Kopischke received his BS in Applied Mathematics from the University of Miami, and his Masters in Fine Arts in Acting from the American Conservatory Theatre, San Francisco, CA.Most recently, Kopischke was with Peninsula Players where he spent 12 seasons, six of which he served as Development Director. He led efforts to complete a $7.2 million capital campaign, invigorated an increasingly successful annual fund campaign, and developed new community engagement programs. He initiated and produced The Big Read Door County and The Play's the Thing, which brought play writing instruction to Door County high school students and professional play readings to the community.
Previously, Kopischke was Executive Director of the Modjeska Youth Theatre Company in Milwaukee, he consulted with the Milwaukee Public Schools' Arts Schools, and he directed the Audience Development Initiative, a marketing research and collaboration project for the arts and cultural organizations of the Greater Milwaukee Area. He earned Milwaukee's First Stage Children's Theater's Educator of the Year Award in 2005. Kopischke also worked as a professional actor and has appeared in more than 100 Equity productions in California, Illinois, and Wisconsin, as well as in a handful of feature films and network television programs.
Kopischke lives in Fish Creek with his wife Kärin and children Anya and Simon. He serves the board of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County and chairs the Scholarship Committee of the Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay.

Birch Creek faculty, staff and board would like to thank Scott Brunswick for acting as Interim Executive Director over the past two months. Mr. Brunswick assumed the role after Kaye Wagner, Birch Creek's Executive Director for the past 15 years, retired from the post in October.
Birch Creek Music Performance Center is a music academy whose mission is to provide intensive, performance-based instruction to promising young musicians by immersing them in a professional, mentoring environment. Birch Creek's premier faculty is comprised of world-renowned artists who come to Door County each season to provide instruction and professionally perform in over 30 live concerts on the Birch Creek campus.
