One of the projects that's taken place at Peninsula State Park recently is the repair of the park's deer exclosure cages. Park Naturalist Kathleen Harris says exclosure cages are designed as an experimental "control" that prevents deer from browsing vegetation, which helps biologists make comparisons between landscapes. Funding for the repair project was provided by Whitetails Unlimited. The need to shore up the cages became critical following tree damage that occurred in the September 29, 2011 wind storm.
