Gone are the days of one-trick pony cross country skiing. Today's skiers have a choice.
Casey St. Henry of the Door County Silent Sports Alliance says those hitting the trails have the option of using the classic method or employing the more cardiovascular-intense skate skiing technique.
St. Henry says the majority of the skiing in Door County tends to be of the classic variety.
Skis for each discipline are different, with one of the differences being length. Classic skis tend to be slightly longer.
Door County Silent Sports Alliance provides a weekly cross country ski report during the winter season. You can find it on DoorCountyDailyNews.com.
