The event doesn't officially kick off until January 21, but a free copy of this year's 'Door County Reads' book can be picked up at any of the eight branches of the Door County Library starting Wednesday, January 2.
This year's selection is The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie R. King, a contemporary mystery featuring detective Sherlock Holmes. Door County Library Director Becca Berger says it's an easy read.
The kickoff for Door County Reads will be January 21 and will feature "Sherlockian" and Sturgeon Bay High School graduate Ed Christensen.
The following four weeks will be filled with presentations, book discussions, film showings, geo-caching adventures, and mystery-solving.
