The Sturgeon Bay City Council will be talking football at its first meeting of the year.
Aldermen Wednesday will be deciding whether a new semi-professional football team should be allowed to use Memorial Field for practices and one game in 2013. The Finance/Purchasing & Building Committee has recommended the Door County Destroyers use the field for one game in its inaugural season for a fee of $100 plus tax per game and to use the practice fields on Wednesdays starting at 6:00 p.m. The team is scheduled to play the rest of its home games at Baileys Harbor Recreational Park.
The Council is meeting on Wednesday instead of Tuesday because of the New Year's holiday. The meeting is at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 421 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay.
