If your New Year’s resolution had something to do with helping others but you just don’t know where to start, the Volunteer Center is here to help! We want you to find a meaningful volunteer opportunity that matches your interests, so take a look at this week’s Volunteer Center Connection opportunities:
Every year, to kick off the annual "Strong Kids" Campaign, the Door County YMCA decorates both facilities and hosts several events during a member appreciation week called "My Y Week!" This year’s theme is "Building Tomorrow" and centers around construction and building. This event runs from February 9th to the 16th, so if you have decorating skills, ideas or time to serve treats in the lobby, they NEED you (and you don’t have to be a Y member to help!) Contact Madelyn at (920) 743-4949 or email@example.com.
And right after that, the Door County YMCA will be hosting the 2013 State Gymnastics Championships on March 15th through the 17th. Approximately 900 gymnasts will be competing for a chance at a State Title, so the Y will need literally hundreds of volunteers! Volunteers are needed for beam timing, score flashing, hospitality, awards, running floor music, maintenance, concessions, equipment unloading, and set up and tear down. If you’d like to watch some incredibly great gymnasts, gather your family and friends and volunteer at this once in a lifetime event. Contact Madelyn at (920) 743-4949 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Door-Tran is looking for volunteers to help their staff with day to day administrative tasks such as typing, filing and assisting customers. There are also times when staff needs to attend meetings, so a volunteer is needed to cover the office during business hours. This is a great opportunity to brush up on your office skills if you’re currently job hunting, and can be arranged to work into your schedule. Contact Carissa Mann at (920) 743-9999 or email@example.com.
