High school math teams around the Packerland Conference have sharpened their pencils for another season of solving problems, balancing equations, and maybe even finding the area of isosceles triangle.
With a team dominated by seniors and freshmen, Sevastopol’s team has high hopes for both this year and the future. Freshman Forrest Rabach got his first taste of math team competition at the season-opening meet January 7 -- and also got his first taste of the traditional post-meet milk and cookies.
Senior Dominique Bowers finished second out of all seniors in the first competition with 36 out of 40 points.
The schools take turns hosting the meets, which take place weekly on Mondays. Although Sevastopol doesn't play host to a competition every season, the school will be the site of a meet this year.
