Despite a shaky start to 2012, Door Concerts, Inc. – formerly Door County Community Concerts – is up and running. President, and Chairman of the Board, Jim Ebbeson says the new board members found more cost-effective ways to organize concerts than the previous board had.
Door Concerts, Inc. collaborated with Midsummer’s Music to organize four of the five concerts for the 2012-2013 season. Ebbeson says the two organizations may put on a concert or two this summer and he’s already planning for the 2013-2014 concert season.
Ebbeson also hopes to double the 200-member roster within the next few years. Members receive discounted season tickets and pay $10 per concert while non-members pay $15 at the door.
You still have two chances to catch a concert this spring:
- March 13 — “The Seven Last Words of Christ”, Franz Joseph Haydn's famed 18th-century composition for Good Friday services, performed by string quartet and speakers including area pastors and reverends, former Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton and Door County writer Norbert Blei; Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1756 Michigan St., Sturgeon Bay.
- April 25 — Chicago-based pianist Craig Terry and New York baritone Hugh Russell, both from Lyric Opera of Chicago; Bay View Lutheran Church, 340 W. Maple St., Sturgeon Bay.
