On Wednesday night six broomball teams will suit up for battle at the Teresa K. Hilander Community Ice Rink in Sister Bay, just like they have every Wednesday this month. The lively sport is a cross between soccer and ice hockey and Northern Door Broomball League organizer Brian Fitzgerald says over the past 15 years the competition has grown more intense as teams mastered their skills.
There are two weeks left of the regular season and the top teams will go head to head for the championship on February 15. Fitzgerald is working with the community to organize a fundraiser for the rink February 16.
The rink is also open for skating on the weekends and some afternoons. For more information call 920-854-7014 or visit sisterbayicerink.com.
