Steve and Janice Wood of Wood Orchard Market are packing up for a week-long tour of northern England. They will be joining an international group of about 40 people led by Australian retail consultant John Stanley.
Steve and Janice have heard Stanley speak several times and are familiar with his message. Steve says the “Guru of Retail Marketing” advises direct market farms to advertise using social media.
Janice keeps Wood Orchard Market friends and followers updated via e-newsletter, the website, Facebook, Twitter and even Pinterest. She’ll be taking her iPad along and hopes to keep everyone up to date on their latest adventures in England.
The Woods will learn how English farmers use social media to promote their products, exchange ideas with other members of the tour group and take the opportunity to work with Stanley one-on-one. Steve and Janice take off on Monday.
When Wood Orchard Market opens for the 2013 season on April 27, Janice says customers will find a new building. Last month construction began on a 100’ x 50’ addition to the back of the market. It’ll be used mostly for storage, but some space will be used as another showroom.
