Next school year the Washington Island School District will welcome 4 year olds to the classroom and extend the current half day program for 5K to a full day. Thursday night the board of education approved the motions. Superintendent Tim Raymond says the local preschool asked the district to consider adding a 4K program.
The district has determined that the current staff and classrooms will be able to sufficiently meet the needs of the new structure, which will keep costs of the switch down.
Raymond says the community has been very fortunate to have the preschool serve the children so well over the past decades.
