There’s magic in the music at Birch Creek Music Performance Center! Birch Creek is one of America’s most prestigious summer music academies and this summer celebrates 38 years of quality instruction and exciting public performances that span over an eight-week period from June 27 through August 17 in Symphony, Percussion and Steel Band, and Big Band Jazz.
Each year, growing numbers of visitors and local patrons alike discover Birch Creek, a “hidden gem” that has been a Door County treasure since 1976. This year, Birch Creek is poised continue the tradition of excellence as our esteemed faculty prepares for its return.
We are happy to welcome the Program Directors for each session back to Birch Creek. Ricardo Castañeda returns as the Program Director of the Symphony session. Mr. Castañeda has been an educator at Birch Creek since 1998 and he has served as the Symphony Program Director since 2001.
2013 marks Jeff Campbell’s 25th year At Birch Creek, his 17th as the Program Director for both Jazz sessions. Mr. Campbell is also the Academy Jazz Orchestra Director. Be sure to come see him “in action” this summer.
We are excited to welcome Mr. Ben Wahlund as our new Program Director for the Percussion & Steel Band session. Mr. Wahlund returns to Birch Creek after 6 seasons as a Percussion faculty member to assume the position formerly held by Mr. Robert Chappell, who returns to Birch Creek as a Percussion faculty member this summer for his 24th season.
