Halftime brought no calm to the storm that was the War on the Shore last night between the Kewaunee and Algoma girls basketball teams in Kewaunee. Hats, gloves, scarves and mittens rained down from the bleachers for the 2nd Annual Mitten Toss.

Kewaunee PR Committee Chair Lisa Schmidt says they collected 606 winter apparel items, about 100 more than last year.
The PR Committee worked with Paige Kassner to organize the Mitten Toss again this year as part of her Warm Hands Warm Hearts project. Schmidt says even though they’re rivals on the hardwood, the communities of Kewaunee and Algoma really came together for the cause.
