Sturgeon Bay police made 90 arrests for drunken driving last year and the average blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.
Figures released by the department Thursday show officers made 90 arrests for operating while intoxicated in 2012 and the average blood alcohol content of the offenders was .188 percent. The legal limit in Wisconsin is .08 percent.
SBPD Captain Dan Brinkman says the .188 percent BAC average last year is slightly higher than the .185 percent average in 2011.
Officers also recorded 11 arrests for operating while impaired by drugs and nabbed one person for violation of absolute sobriety.
