Two retirements are forcing the City of Sturgeon Bay to reorganize its personnel structure. Personnel Committee Chair Ron Vandertie says the preliminary plan is to have department heads step up and take on more responsibilities.
Assistant City Administrator Mary Lou Allen and Parks and Recreation Secretary Marilyn Kleist retired in 2012. Vandertie says the department heads are very willing to take on a few more responsibilities at City Hall to cover Allen’s former duties.
As far as taking over for Kleist, Vandertie says the details haven’t been worked out quite yet but it looks like Municipal Services staff will take on some responsibilities while other services may be available on the city’s website. These plans will have to be approved by the Personnel Committee before getting approval from the City Council. Vandertie says the final plan won’t be ready until April.
