There's a new restaurant in downtown Sturgeon Bay.
136 Restaurant & Wine Bar, located at 136 N. 3rd Avenue, opened on Valentine's Day.
At the helm is Sharon Peterson, formerly of Gourmet-A-Go-Go. Peterson tells DoorCountyDailyNews.com her original business plan involved a 'take-out market' concept, but when that didn't pan out she had to shift gears.
The space was most recently the home of Family Thyme Restaurant, which closed its doors in December. Before that it housed the Sage Restaurant & Wine Bar.
Peterson says the interior of the restaurant -- designed by Mitch Wise -- is "contemporary" but "comfortable," and says many diners tell her they feel they're in a big city.
Artwork by Stephanie Trenchard and Jeremy Popelka fills out the space.
Peterson describes the menu as "upscale bistro" and says everything is made from scratch.
"The desserts, the salad dressing -- absolutely everything is from scratch."
Peterson says they'll have expanded hours in the summer, but for now they'll be open Monday through Wednesday from 11 am to 3 pm, and Thursday through Saturday from 11 am to 10 pm.
