Door County has picked a new person to run the Parks & Airport Department.
Door County Administrator Maureen Murphy says Erik Aleson, assistant parks administrator in Marinette County, has accepted the job.
Murphy says Aleson's "breadth and depth of experience" set him apart from the other candidates. Prior to his current position Aleson held jobs as parks & forest administrator in Vernon County and parks superintendent in Cass County, Indiana. The UW-Stevens Point graduate also spent a year as an AmeriCorps volunteer.
Murphy says it's an important position and -- pending County Board approval -- she's glad to see it filled.
The job was held for many years by the late George Pinney. Door County Cherryland Airport manager Keith Kasbohm has been acting as interim director.
Murphy says Aleson's starting salary will be $63,066. His first day on the job is expected to be March 18.
The Door County Board is scheduled to take up Aleson's appointment on Tuesday.
