2010 Sturgeon Bay graduate Preston Schmitt is a sports lover and has found an outlet to share that passion at the University of Wisconsin Madison.
Schmitt and three of his friends host a one-hour sports talk show, Full Court Press, every Friday on the campus radio station, 91.7 FM WSUM.
(From left to right) Drew Harry, Nick Whalen, Adam Roundy and Sturgeon Bay graduate Preston Schmitt host Full Court Press, a weekly sports radio talk show on the UW-Madison campus radio station. All four are juniors and plan to continue hosting the show through the 2013-2014 academic year.
With a double major in history and journalism, Schmitt says the radio show is a fun hobby that he just stumbled upon when he and his friends heard about the campus radio station.
The Full Court Press team began training in September and met once a week through December to learn how to run the audio board and host a show. For the past month, Schmitt and his co-hosts have been in the driver’s seat. He says the biggest challenge at first was just getting used to talking on-air and keeping the discussion alive.
Show topics include professional sports and hot issues in the sports world. The young men are very interactive with their audience via Facebook and Twitter, plus listeners can call in to join the conversation.
You can stream Full Court Press live on Fridays from 5-6 p.m. at http://www.wsum.org/. Schmitt also contributes to a Milwaukee Bucks blog regularly.
