Another round of snow and wind has caused area school districts to call off classes Wednesday. Sturgeon Bay, Southern Door, Sevastopol, Gibraltar, Algoma, Kewaunee and Luxemburg-Casco have canceled classes because of the weather. That includes St. John Bosco, St. Peter's Lutheran and Peninsula Christian schools in Sturgeon Bay.
A Winter Weather Advisory continues until noon. The National Weather Service says snow and blowing snow will continue Wednesday morning and gradually diminish in the afternoon.
Other closings & cancellations:
-East Shore Industries in Algoma closed
-Sunshine House closed
-Bay Shipbuilding: 1st shift optional, 2nd shift status to be determined by noon
-American Red Cross Blood Drive at Southern Door canceled
-Door County Child Care closed
-Community Clinic of Door County -- Sturgeon Bay & Sister Bay closed today
-The YMCA Barker Child Development center will be CLOSED ALL DAY today. The YMCA Centers are open today, but classes at the Sturgeon Bay Program Center are cancelled through 4:00 pm (evening classes will be evaluated later); classes at the Northern Door Center are cancelled for the entire day.
-St. John Lutheran Church in Valmy - 10 a.m. service canceled
-Door County announces the following closures:
Washington Island meal site
Liberty Grove meal site
Baileys Harbor meal site
Meals on Wheels delivery in the Sturgeon Bay area
At this time the Senior Resource Center in Sturgeon Bay including the serving of the noon meal and bus service in the Sturgeon Bay area are still open. However, this is subject to change based on changing weather conditions.
-Wellness Center of Door County - 5:30 pm Qigong class canceled
-Friends Community Church in Sturgeon Bay - Bible study & prayer group for tonight canceled
-United Methodist Church in Sturgeon Bay - office closed, no classes or services tonight
-First Baptist of Sturgeon Bay - Wednesday night activities canceled
