Fire officials in the Town of Gibraltar are looking into what started a blaze that caused significant damage to a seasonal home near Peninsula State Park Thursday evening.
Sister Bay-Liberty Grove fire chief and acting Gibraltar fire chief Chris Hecht says the fire was on Evergreen Road not far from Shore Road. It was reported by a neighbor around 5:40 p.m.
Hecht says the residence was unoccupied and no one was injured.
A total of about 35 firefighters from Gibraltar, Sister Bay-Liberty Grove, Ephraim, Egg Harbor, Baileys Harbor, and Jacksonport responded.
Hecht says the blaze -- which started in the kitchen -- caused significant fire damage to the kitchen area and significant heat and smoke damage in the rest of the house.
