Vice President and CFO of Ministry Door County Medical Center Bob Scieszinski says Governor Walker’s budget proposal includes a few changes to BadgerCare that would kick some people out of the program, while allowing others in.
The governor proposed removing the caps that limit the number of people eligible for BadgerCare while rolling back the earnings eligibility qualifier from 130% of the poverty guideline to 100%.
On the national scene, Scieszinski says the Affordable Healthcare Act is already impacting local healthcare and more dramatic changes are on the way in 2014. He says hospitals and physicians would be paid more for quality outcomes rather than for volumes.
Scieszinski agrees with that approach and says it would encourage healthcare providers to form partnerships with organizations focused on healthy living, as Ministry Door County Medical Center has partnered with the YMCA.
