
A 44-year-old man is in custody after leading officers on a high-speed chase through northern Door County early this morning.
Officers responded to a report of an armed, intoxicated man barricaded in an apartment north of Fish Creek in the Town of Gibraltar and threatening suicide just after 1 a.m. The Door County SWAT team was activated and shortly after deputies arrived the chase ensued.
In a press release from the Door County Sheriff’s Department, Chief Deputy Gary Behling says the chase led officers through Gibraltar, Ephraim, Sister Bay and Liberty Grove before ending in Baileys Harbor at 3:30 a.m.
Officers arrested the man, whose name has not been released, and seized a firearm and the vehicle involved in the chase. The man is being held in the Door County Jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants, knowingly fleeing an officer and reckless endangerment with a weapon.
