The Door County Sheriff's Department and Sturgeon Bay Police Department are alerting residents of a phone scam.
The departments have received several complaints over the past few weeks of telephone calls from security companies stating that medical and/or security systems have been purchased for them by family members and that they would send someone to the residence to install it. When the homeowner questions the claim, the caller gets aggressive.
In a press release, Sheriff Terry Vogel warns residents not to share credit card or bank information with the caller. Instead, home owners should hang up immediately.
