Motorists trying to cross Sturgeon Bay Saturday evening found themselves in a bind when they couldn’t cross either of the remaining two bridges.
The Steel Bridge went up around 6:20 p.m. and the Oregon Bridge had motorists stopped, but never opened up. When the Steel Bridge went back down and the light remained red on Oregon, motorists on the Oregon Bridge began heading to Michigan Street.
According to the Sturgeon Bay Police Department, officers were dispatched to the bridge for traffic control just after 6:30 and found the bridge was not functioning properly. The Oregon Bridge reopened to traffic by 8:30 p.m. but there has been no word yet on what caused the malfunction.
