Telecommunications technology will be the focus of a Broadband Summit scheduled for Wednesday in Door County.
The Door County Economic Development Corporation and Door County Visitor Bureau are hosting the day-long event, which will highlight several significant telecommunications infrastructure and service upgrades in Door County, and debut the new telecommunications layer on the Door County GIS Map. The summit will provide an opportunity for participants to learn about the service options available throughout the peninsula, and for telecommunications partners to share their infrastructure and service offerings with residents and members of the business community.
The summit will take the format of three roundtable presentations, all open to the public, at locations around the county:
- 9:30-11:30 am - Crossroads at Big Creek, Sturgeon Bay
- 1:30-3:30 pm - Bertschinger Center, Egg Harbor
- 6:30-8:30 pm - Sister Bay Fire Station
Door County's internet service providers and their service areas can now be viewed on the Door County Web Map (http://map.co.door.wi.us/map). County GIS/LIO Coordinator Tom Haight says he'll be at the roundtables to explain how the maps work.
Anyone with questions or concerns about broadband and telecommunications connectivity is encouraged to attend one of the roundtable events.
