In preparation for Bike to School Day, the Door County Silent Sports Alliance is holding four bike rodeos Saturday at Market Square in Sturgeon Bay.
Children of all ages are welcome to bring their bikes in good operating condition and join in on the fun as the DCSSA and City of Sturgeon Bay Police Department team up to teach bike safety and check bikes. The free bike rodeos will begin at 9 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.
Each rodeo will begin with a bike safety video, followed by some hands-on experience in using hand signals and following the rules of the road. Upon completion of the course, each child will receive a Bell Bike Helmet.
Walk-ins are welcome.
Bike to School Day will be Wednesday, May 15. Students can meet at Market Square and ride their bikes with police officers to T.J. Walker Middle School and Sunrise Elementary School.
