Forestville American Legion Pays Tribute To Fallen Soldiers (with video)

Forestville American Legion Post 372 conducted short ceremonies at 22 cemeteries in southern Door County Sunday morning to honor those who have died serving our country. The mission ended at the Forestville Town Hall just after noon with a special ceremony honoring Legion members who have passed away over the past ten years.

Firing Squad/Honor Guard Commander Al Buechner says they conduct the ceremonies the day before Memorial Day to ensure attendance.

These 22 flags represent the American Legion Post 372 members who have passed away in the past ten years. About 50 people gathered at the Forestville Town Hall Sunday to remember all who have fallen while serving the United States of America.

In order to make it to all of the cemeteries, the Vietnam War Army veteran says the firing squad split up for some of the ceremonies.

About 50 people gathered at the Town Hall to remember fallen soldiers. After a short prayer and a 21-gun salute, the flag was lowered to half mast while two high school students played Taps.
