Jury selection for a Door County murder trial will take place Friday in Wisconsin Rapids.
A jury comprised of Wood County residents is being picked to hear the trial of Brian Cooper, which is scheduled to begin Monday in Sturgeon Bay.
The 36-year-old Plainfield, Illinois man faces two charges of first-degree intentional homicide in the deaths of 21-year-old Alisha Bromfield and her unborn daughter. Cooper also faces a charge of third-degree sexual assault.
Door County Judge Todd Ehlers granted a change of venue request January 31, agreeing with defense attorney Shane Brabazon that the case has generated "significant publicity" in Door County and it would be difficult for Cooper to get a fair trial with local jurors.
