USCG Chief Petty Officer Duane Vander Putten Retires After 30 Years

Sturgeon Bay Mayor Thad Birmingham denoted June 14 as “Duane T. Vander Putten Day” at Chief Petty Officer Vander Putten’s retirement ceremony Friday at the USCG Canal Station.

Vander Putten has been assigned to Sturgeon Bay since 1991 and served in the Coast Guard Reserve for 30 years. Vander Putten received the Coast Guard Commendation Medal Friday as well.

Senior Chief Wayne Spritka says Vander Putten has served the community in the shadows without waiver and is a true humanitarian.
