The heart and soul of Church-Site Farm in Brussels are the Wautier family and their community.
The Jim and Joe Wautier families are the Door County Farm Family of the year. Jim says he and his brother are the third generation of Wautier family farmers.
Joe adds that there aren’t many professions that allow you to work with your family.
The Wautiers own 240 acres in Brussels and milk about 50 cows twice a day. Anyone you talk to in southern Door County will know the Wautier family. Joe is the Town of Brussels chairman, Jim is an assistant fire chief with the Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department and Joe’s wife, Beverly, heads the EMR crew.
