-- Walker touts his signing of Assembly Bill 166 in his weekly radio address. Walker, who signed the bill yesterday during a ceremony in Mayville, says the bill will create "an individual income tax exemption for military personnel who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom in a combat zone."
"This legislation sends an important message of gratitude to fallen service members and their families," Walker says. "The bravest amongst us shouldn’t be required to pay Wisconsin state income tax when they’ve already paid the ultimate sacrifice for our nation."

-- Sen. Lena Taylor of Milwaukee delivered the Dem radio address this week, calling for a "swift response from Congress" in the wake of a U.S. Supreme Court decision striking down part of the Voting Rights Act.
Taylor says the ruling "reminds African-Americans that our fight for equal rights is far from over."
“We know the Jim Crow tactics of the past. To vote someone had to tell the clerk how many bubbles there were in a bar of soap," Taylor says. "Without Section IV of the Voting Rights Act, there is little to stop such tactics from returning."
