The attorney for Door County murder suspect Brian Cooper is officially off the case.
Judge Todd Ehlers Tuesday granted a request by Shane Brabazon to withdraw as Cooper's attorney.
Brabazon filed the request June 24, one week after his client unsuccessfully tried to fire him before the trial started and two days after a Wood County jury was unable to reach a consensus on two charges of first degree intentional homicide.
According to online court records, Cooper is expected to be assigned new counsel from the Wisconsin State Public Defender's Office, although that has not yet occurred.
Judge Ehlers scheduled a status conference for July 12.
