Emanuel William Fett, 87, of Sturgeon Bay, WI, went to be with the Lord on the evening of Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Ministry-Door County Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 12, 1925, to Emanuel and Sarah (Deprey) Fett in Kewaunee County. Emaunel was raised by his father’s brother, John, and (John’s) wife, Anna, after his mother passed away during his childbirth. He attended Gregorville School in Kewaunee County. Emanuel worked as a woods craftsmen for Algoma Hardwoods (initially named U. S. Plywoods and later Champion International) for 43 years. Throughout his working career, he was a member of Local 1521 Carpenters Union.
On August 5, 1950, Emanuel was united in marriage to Ruth Jossart at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend, WI. He was an active member of the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church.
Emanuel loved agriculture, especially gardening and raising chickens and pigs. He also enjoyed going ice skating and playing dartball. Emaunel had a great appreciation for Ford cars and trucks as well the Ford family. He was an “armchair coach” for the Green Bay Packers, an avid fan through and through. Emanuel had quite a bear collection, including his near-life size, wood-carved bear, which usually came out of “hibernation” May 1 every year.
His memory will live on in the hearts of those he will be deeply missed by: his wife, Ruth, of Sturgeon Bay; five children, Patricia (Larry) Brunette of Sturgeon Bay, William Emanuel (Sherri) Fett of Suamico, WI, Stewart (Theresa) Fett of Sturgeon Bay, Christine (Dennis) Heldmann of Sturgeon Bay, Wallace (Lori) Fett of Beaver Dam, WI; 14 grandchildren, Larry (Beth) Brunette, Tammy (friend, Phil) Brunette, Sarah (Jeffery) Iding, Amy (Troy) Robillard, Ethan (Kristin) Fett, Megan (John) Bekish, Dustan (Stacy) Fett, Drs. Nicole (Philipp) Fett-Raess, Aaron Fett, Forrest Heldmann, Hannah Heldmann, Adam (Catherine) Fett, Brandon (friend, Krystal) Fett, Marie Fett; 21 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; other dear relatives; and friends.
Emaunel was preceded in death by his birth parents; parents during his life; three sisters, Alice (Leo) Hoffmann, Viola (Jim) Thiry, Lorraine (Mark) Steiner; all of his cousins, who he thought of like his brothers and sisters; two sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Mitchell officiating. He will be laid to rest in Bayside Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church.
