Otto Mielke, 98 years, of Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully with family at his side, early Tuesday morning (May 28, 2013) at Pine Crest Residence Care Facility.
He was born September 29, 1914 in Winnebago County, the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Brauer) Mielke. On October 2, 1937 he married Evelyn A. Ash at the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church. He worked as orchard foreman for Martin Orchard for 32 years until 1966. Otto then worked as a dispatcher for Sturgeon Bay Sand and Gravel until his retirement.
Otto was a member of the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church, the Masonic Lodge and Odd Fellows. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and dancing with his wife.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Sturgeon Bay; daughter, Judy (Dean) Krueger of Sturgeon Bay; two grandchildren, Judene (Chris) Trotter of Minneapolis, MN, Brett (Tammy) Krueger of Geneva, IL; four great-grandchildren, Mack and Ella Trotter, Jacob and Joseph Krueger.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Joseph and Kenneth Mielke; six sisters, Mary Werkheiser, Helen Vertz, Julia Dettman, Jeanette Anschutz, Betty Hoffman, and Doris Wilz.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (June 3, 2013) at Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church with Rev. Dr. Matt Knapp officiating. Burial will be at Bayside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. on Monday until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be given in his memory for Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church or Unity Hospice.
