Ferdinand “Fred” Reiger, 65, formerly of California, Illinois, and Germany, died peacefully Friday morning, May 24, 2013, at Anna’s Healthcare CBRF in Sturgeon Bay, WI, where he had been living the past couple months.

He was born April 5, 1948, in Regensburg, Germany, the son of Helmut and Pauline (Rieger)-Wall Paul. Fred completed his education in Germany and came to the United States in 1965. He lived in Chicago, IL, for 10 years while working as a chef. Fred then moved to Walnut Creek, CA, where he worked as a chef for the Hyatt Hotel Restaurant. In 2007, Fred moved to Green Bay, WI, and in March of 2013, he relocated to Sturgeon Bay to be closer to family.

Fred had an interest in everything. He even studied photography for a short time. His family loved receiving his postcards with the beautiful pictures he would capture.

Fred will be missed by his two sisters, Alisa (John Sr.) Linczmaier of Sturgeon Bay, Adeleine and her husband of Germany (and their children); brother, Hans (Karin) Wall (and their two sons) of Regensburg, Germany; sister-in-law, Theresia Wall (and her two sons and two daughters), also of Regensburg, Germany; two nephews, Werner (Sandra) Linczmaier (and their three sons and one daughter) of Baileys Harbor, WI, and John Linczmaier Jr. (and his two sons and one girl; and one granddaughter) of Chicago, formerly of Fox Lake, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Oskar Wall.

Fred’s wishes were to have no public services.
