Richard Louis Halverson passed away on the night of Sunday December 15, 2013 at the age of 84 at his home in Ephraim, Wisconsin. He was born in Rockford, Illinois in 1929 to Louis and Ethel Halverson. Dick, as he was familiarly known, attended East High School in Rockford and also attended NIU for a time when it was still a college.
Dick served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He lived most of his adult life in Ephraim, WI, operating ‘The Turtle Studio’ gift shop alongside his wife of 40 years, Janet Halverson. He loved the beauty of the peninsula and the community in which he lived. He was an avid reader enjoying topics including aircraft, race cars, nature, wildlife, astronomy, art and photography.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Halverson of Ephraim, WI; son Mark Halverson (Nancy) of Rockford, IL; grandson Rich Halverson and great grandson Ayden Halverson, both of Butte, Montana; daughter Sue McDaniel (Craig) of Colorado Springs, CO; and grandchildren Graham, Christie and Ryan McDaniel of Colorado Springs, CO. He is preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn H. Van Den Bos, formerly of Littleton, CO.
Dick (Dad) will be greatly missed by those of us who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
