Edward R. Miessner

Edward R. Miessner was born on September 29, 1919 and died on January 11, 2014 2014 at his home in rural Fish Creek.

Born as the fifth of eight children to Adolph and Emma Miessner on the family homestead farm in Rothimay, Montana.

The family moved to Marathon County in Wisconsin when Ed was a boy. He graduated from high school in Athens, Wisconsin. He worked on farms and in a logging camp.

Ed served his country in the Army in WWII in North Africa and Italy. Ed moved to Milwaukee in 1950 and began working for Pressed Steel Tank Company.

Ed and Gloria Henry were married in 1960.

Ed had many interests and skills. He especially enjoyed working in the woods. Ed and Gloria grew and sold Christmas trees for over 50 years at their farm in Adams County.

They moved to Fish Creek where he remained very active.

He is survived by Gloria, beloved wife of 53 years, sister Helen and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Emma, siblings, Agatha, Wilfred, Melvin, Mildred, CLarence, and Elmer.

A visitation will be held at the Casperson Funeral Home in Sister Bay, WI on Thursday January 16, 2014 from 12:00 noon until 3:00 P.M. Burial will take place at Blossomburg Cemetery in Fish Creek, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gibraltar First Responders.
